Connecting from a Windows PC

Secure Shell/SSH is the recommended method for connecting to Unix servers from Windows.

X-Win32 is an x-terminal emulator with mouse control which allows access to windows style editors (xemacs, nedit), PC-like emulations of SAS®, GCG sequence displays in color and access to other x-terminal based packages.  SSH is built into X-Win32.  Use is recommended for users on campus who are connected to the VCU ethernet.

For Off Campus Connections to Servers (such as Compile or Koti):

  1. First establish a VCU Web VPN session to securely connect to the VCU network
  2. Then run SSH or X-Win32 to login to the server.
