Implementation Timeline

Much consideration has been given to the timeline for the transition to Top Hat, and plans are to focus efforts on this implementation to ensure that it is 100% functional by the start of Fall 2018 classes. In order to do this, support for Turning Technologies will cease at the end of the Spring 2018 semester (May 16). During the Summer of 2018 any classes needing a response system will use Top Hat and this will be considered our “soft launch”. The vendor has assured us that they are ready to assist and provide prompt resolution to any issues to ensure a successful implementation for Fall 2018.

 

 

Timeline for Implementation of Top Hat SRS and Phase-Out of Turning Technologies

December 1, 2017

  • All training for Turning Technologies ends.
  • Support for Turning Technologies limited to existing accounts and functionality only.
  • ”Preliminary launch“ of Top Hat - any classes that are new to SRS should use Top Hat.

 

Spring Semester 2018

  • Efforts are focused on preparing Top Hat for production use.
    • Implementation of Single Sign-On.
  • Support for Turning Technologies limited to existing accounts only.
  • Top Hat should be used for any classes that are new to SRS.
    • In-person and online Top Hat training sessions will be provided (schedule to be released soon).

 

Summer Semester 2018

  • Turning Technologies and other student response systems no longer supported after May 16, 2018.
  • Top Hat “soft launch” of Single Sign-On features - any summer classes needing a response system will use Top Hat.
  • In-person and online Top Hat training sessions will be provided (schedule to be released soon).
  • Address and resolve any issues before Fall classes begin.

 

Fall Semester 2018

  • Top Hat SRS in production and fully functional by the first day of classes.
  • Training and assistance will be provided for all faculty and students using Top Hat.
