Classroom Podiums

To make it simple to go from classroom to classroom, we try and maintain some design standards wherever possible.  Since 2007, our podium designs has gone largely unchanged with only a few modifications.  Our Standard classrooms have our small podium, and most lecture halls have a large podium.  Below are examples of our current standard podium.  We do regularly update models and interfaces as new technologies become available.  One significant change that we have made to these podiums is where we put the auxiliary interface.  Before 2014, we kept the interface plates on top of the podiums.  Since then, with the addition of adjustable position computer monitors and the constant need to desktop space, we moved the interface plate to the front of the rack and added a light above it to assist users in locating it. Starting in the summer of 2015, we began using touch monitors in all of our system updates.  On small podiums, this replaced standard monitors with no touch interaction.  On large podiums, touch monitors replaced the stylus-based Smart Sympodium and the smaller non-touch secondary monitor.

Large Podium

Current Standard Large Podium

Found in primarily our large lecture halls, the current large podium allows for more desktop surface as well as the addition of a secondary podium monitor.  This monitor has been largely adopted by users who wish to take advantage of an extended computer desktop as well as preview their document camera feed to the audience.  There is also a podium Microphone located on top of the podium. This microphone is small and discrete, but it has an impressive pick-up range.  These systems also have these other capabilities.
