How do I resolve HIPS and PUAs?

It is always a good idea to Check your system for PUAs and HIPS before enabling blocking.  Follow the  procedure below to check your system applications against SophosAV's HIPS.

(Note:  be sure to back up all your important documents and photos before making any changes to your system.)

Enable "Alerts Only" HIPS runtime first and scan your PC.

Step 1 - Right click mouse on the Sophos shield located at the bottom right corner on the Windows Taskbar. Click on [Open Sophos Endpoint Security and Control] to open Sophos.  
Step 2 - Click on the “Configure anti-virus and HIPS” icon  
Step 3 - Click on “Behavior monitoring”  

Step 4 - Check “Enable behavior monitoring", "Detect malicious and suspicious behavior"

 Step 5 - Check “detect buffer overflow”

Step 6 - Check “Alert only”

 Step 7 - Click “OK”

 

Step 8 - Click “OK”
Step 9 - Create a custom scan to check for Adware/PUAs and HIPS.
