How does Sophos find PUAs (Potentially Unwanted Applications)?

The VCU Sophos is preconfigured to scan for viruses and PUA scans on Wednesday at noon. You can also configure the scan to run when you would like by changing the time your scheduled PUA scan

VCU recommends that the blocking of PUAs be enabled in the On-access scan settings on all machines. On-access scanning is your main method of protection against viruses and other threats.  Depending on the settings in Sophos, whenever you copy, move, or open a file, Sophos Anti-Virus scans the file and grants access to it only if it does not pose a threat to your computer or has been authorized for use.
