This is the preliminary (or launch) version of the 2020-21 VCU Bulletin. This edition includes all programs and courses approved by the publication deadline; however we may receive notification of additional program approvals after the launch. The final edition and full PDF version will include these updates and will be available in August prior to the beginning of the fall semester.
A minor in mathematics consists of at least 18 credits (and a minimum of five courses) offered by the Department of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, including the following:
|Select a minimum of three credits of calculus||3|
|Select a minimum of nine upper-level credits||9|
|Select six additional credits.||6|
None of the following courses may be used to fulfill the required 18 credits:
|MATH 303||Investigations in Geometry||3|
|MATH 361||Numbers and Operations||3|
|MATH 362||Algebra and Functions||3|
|Any 100-level course|
Courses in subjects areas other than MATH cannot be applied to the minor. A minimum GPA of 2.0 must be achieved in the minor. Students in the mathematical sciences majors cannot minor in mathematics.
