The words “we’re all in this together” have never rung more true. The fight against the COVID-19 pandemic is a global effort on a massive scale. It’s no surprise, then, that Rams continued to step up and do their part to help. Here are just a few of the many success stories:

Nursing students share their experiences at coronavirus hot spots

Three graduate students from the VCU School of Nursing traveled to New York and Seattle to work at facilities besieged by the COVID-19 outbreak.

Babysitting and pet sitting for health care workers

Medical student volunteers launched a new organization, the VCU Childcare Co-op, that is helping support VCU Health doctors, nurses and others working on the front lines against COVID-19.

VCUarts alumnus helps VCU Health decontaminate N95 masks

An artist and welder created a set of rolling trellises for the health system’s decontamination effort.

Students collect surplus medical supplies:

United2Heal, a student organization at the university, is providing VCU Health and Riverside Regional Medical Center with masks during the COVID-19 pandemic.

VCU Nursing volunteers sew face masks for senior citizens:

A group of volunteers has sewed hundreds of masks for participants in the Richmond Health and Wellness Program.

Building ventilators with 3D printers:

Researchers across VCU’s health sciences, engineering and arts programs are collaborating to create blueprints for ventilators that health systems could build from scratch.
