COVID-19 UPDATES: Return to Campus
Eric Garberson is an associate professor of Art History and an affiliated faculty member in the interdisciplinary doctoral program in Media, Art, and Text. His scholarly work focuses on art, theory and historiography from the late eighteenth through the nineteenth century, primarily in Germany. He is particularly interested in the discursive formations, cultural practices, and institutional structures that inform the production, reception and study of objects variously defined as art. In working with graduate students, Garberson strives to provide the theoretical and historical grounding necessary for a successful research career and the development of an independent scholarly voice. He received his Ph.D and MA in the history of art from the Johns Hopkins University, and his BA in art history from Pomona College.
