Winter Storm Preparedness Tips

It is best to be prepared for inclement weather before it hits. Please share the following tips with your student so they aren’t caught off-guard when winter weather hits:

  • Prepare your emergency kit with non-perishable food, water, batteries and other supplies that can last you and your roommates for two to three days.
  • Consider purchasing items such as rock salt, sand, ice scrapers and shovels, and keep extra blankets in your car and apartment or residence hall.
  • If you have a car on campus or at an off-campus location, prepare your vehicle by making sure your gas tank is at least half-full, the antifreeze is sufficient, and that your tire treads and windshield wipers are in good condition.
