Claiming your alumni.vcu.edu account is a simple process.
Account recovery is easy if you've configured your account with recovery information. Select Forgot Password and Google will walk you through recovery options, either to your alternate email or your phone. If these options fail, please call the IT Support Center at 804-828-2227 for password reset assistance.
Once your password is reset, please take action to enable recovery options, setting up a recovery phone number or email address and setting up 2-Factor Authentication to further secure your Alumni account.

Google Photos will not be available in the alumni domain. Please take steps to migrate photos to a personal account. Photos uploaded as high quality before June 1, 2021 will not count towards your total storage. We have outlined several options for migrating your photos.

Students with active student accounts will continue to have email directed to their student account. Email addressed to eID@vcu.edu and eID@mymail.
To keep your account active, please sign into your account via a web browser at least once annually. Reminders will be sent weekly in December and accounts not accessed will be notified and then removed the last day of January. This is in accordance with the VCU Alumni Email Standard.
Email redirection will be put in place for the immediate future, however, any new subscriptions should be done using your @alumni.vcu.edu address. Any change in this redirection will be communicated well in advance.
Mymail accounts will remain available until May 17.
On March 31, all email addressed to your eID @vcu.edu, @mymail.vcu.edu, and @alumni.vcu.edu will arrive in Alumni accounts unless you have an active student or employee role.
The alumni accounts use Google authentication and won't automatically open in myVCU Portal. You may click the link in the resources section to launch your account.
Yes, you may do this in your settings by following these steps from Google support: https://support.google.com/mail/answer/10957?hl=en. Please update this should an account change to avoid unnecessary delivery failures. Even though you are not reading email in your alumni account, you are still required to log in once a year for it to remain active.
An employee account will be created for you in the vcu.edu domain. Incoming email addressed to your eID@vcu.edu will arrive in your employee account. Email addressed to your eID@alumni.vcu.edu address will be delivered to your alumni email account. When you leave employment, email redirection will be updated to arrive in your alumni account.
Unless you become an active student or employee, your VCU eID/alumni email address will not be changed. You may update your display name in Google by visiting aboutme.google.com.
Alumni moving from the mymail.vcu.edu domain will be provided Google Takeout to migrate their data unless department restrictions prohibit data migration. Data will not be automatically migrated.
