There is an increasing emphasis on skills such as design thinking, problem-solving, adaptability and empathy to current as well as future job roles. VCU da Vinci Center is offering the opportunity to earn an “Introduction to Design Thinking” credential. This workshop is an immersive 120-minute workshop on the practice of human-centered thinking, delivered by an ExperiencePoint-trained facilitator.
The inaugural Pitch Virginia event, powered by Activation Capital will kick off with a design thinking workshop in the morning, the day will be filled with pitches from high growth, main street and student companies competing for $15,000 of prize money, concluding with the grand opening event of the Shift Retail Lab at VCU with a cocktail networking event and open house tours of the space in the evening.
SHIFT Retail Lab is a place for inventors, innovators, and entrepreneurs to share, meet, and collaborate. SHIFT Retail Lab is designed to connect student startups with the Richmond ecosystem at no cost to the students. Here students can sell ideas and market products in hopes to generate feedback and even revenue.
Join us at the Grand Opening to take a tour of the new Shift Retail Lab and network with student founders and the local entrepreneurial ecosystem. This in-person event is open to all students and community members.
Grab a front-row seat at the second annual VCU Alumni Pitch Competition. Five finalists will pitch their business ventures virtually to a panel of judges for a chance to win funding, resources and the ultimate title: 2020 VCU Alumni Pitch Competition champion.
How can design thinking be used to respond to challenges in retail?
Participate in a VCU da Vinci Center Design Jam to examine issues through the lens of human-centered design and design thinking. This is a free, one-day event and is open to all undergraduate and graduate students.
