Employer Testimonial:

"After struggling to receive the quantity of internship applications needed for a successful search, we decided to participate in a Custom Recruitment Day in 2014. The event was a big success and helped us in finding our intern for the summer. When it came time to search for our next intern for the summer of 2015, we decided to come back for another Custom Recruitment Day at VCU. This time, students were familiar with our brand and we ended up having over 30 applications for one internship position!"

Tips for Success

Engineering Career Services is here to make your Custom Recruitment Day as successful as possible.  In order to see the most return on your investment, we encourage all employers to utilize the tips below:

  • Post all open positions on Handshake
Your Custom Recruitment Day is the perfect opportunity to speak to students about job and internship opportunities. Make sure you have all open positions posted to Handshake before coming to campus. Once your jobs have been posted, Engineering Career Services can send targeted messages to your desired student group to encourage them to attend your information session.
  • Focus on what it is like to work at your company
Students like to hear about what it like to work at companies on a day to day basis. Therefore, we encourage you to use the time during your Custom Recruitment Day to really focus on what it would be like to work for your company as an engineer.
  • Bring a diverse group of staff members with you to campus
We encourage you to bring practicing engineers with varying levels of experience with you to your Custom Recruitment Day. If you are recruiting for an internship position, why not bring a current intern?
