COVID-19 International Student Resource Guide

At all times, students with an emergency / time-sensitive situation may call VCU Police at 804-828-1196 or 804-828-1234.

VCU Police will contact appropriate GEO staff.

Students with concerns that are not immediately time-sensitive should follow the contact list below.

Students should be aware that at this time GEO employees are working remotely; email will be the most effective means of communication. Students should not come to GEO / ELP unless directed to do so by an advisor.

VCU ELP offers three levels of instruction in written and spoken English: beginner, intermediate, and advanced.

Students who complete the program meet the language proficiency requirements of most of VCU's academic degree programs.

Part-time Courses

VCU ELP also offers part-time evening courses for students who want to improve their English, such as Pronouncing American English and English Language Proficiency Test Preparation.

Placement Test

You are required to take the English Language Placement Test if:
  • You want to study in the English Language Program.
  • You are admitted to VCU but need to satisfy the English language requirement.
The English Language Program placement test is very important because it determines a student's initial placement in the English Language Program.
