International students and scholars face many challenges when beginning their studies in a new country. The Global Education Office staff offers assistance, guidance and support as they adjust to a different culture and pursue their educational goals.

 



International Student Orientation

The International Student Orientation is required for all new and transfer undergraduate and graduate students with F or J visas. (Students with other visa types are welcome to attend.)

At International Student & Scholar Orientation (ISO), you will:

  • check in with immigration advisers and learn about important immigration rules and regulations (Please bring passport and I-20)
  • learn about local housing options, health insurance, banking, and other essential needs
  • learn about resources and practices to help you do well in your classes
  • learn about opportunities for getting to know your classmates and professors, making new friends, and exploring Richmond and the region.


ISO for Spring 2020 is Wednesday, January 8 from 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.

To register for ISO, please submit the ISO Registration.  Questions should be directed to ISSP@vcu.edu.  

 



New international students and scholars should arrive at VCU for the Spring 2018 term no later than Monday, January 6, 2019, to allow time to get settled before orientation. Spring 2019 classes begin Monday, January 13, 2020. Students who are required to take the ELP Placement Test given on Monday, January 6 should arrive no later than Sunday, January 5, 2020.
