Ben Plache helps students select coursework, explore educational opportunities and decide on a course of study. He also coordinates student events and activities, including working with Residential Life and Housing and the Honors College freshman mentorship program and Student Executive Board.
Before joining the Honors College, Mr. Plache worked as a pre-health advisor with VCU’s University Academic Advising. He has also worked as a graduate assistant with VCU’s New Student Programs, and served as the undergraduate career advisor and graduate advisor in the Department of History.
Mr. Plache holds a B.A. in English and History from VCU, where he also earned a M.A.in History. He is currently working towards a Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration in VCU’s Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs. His professional interests include student retention, diminishing returns in academic advising and how technology can help advisors better connect with their students. He is certified in the Strong Interest Inventory.
