About the position
This position will serve as the Chief Research Information Officer for Virginia Commonwealth University and VCU Health System. The successful CRIO candidate will be an experienced informatics researcher, academic leader, and team builder who can guide and significantly advance the support, development, and use of translational informatics in VCU’s clinical and translational research enterprise in collaboration with VCU Health System, with the ultimate goal of advancing science and improving the quality and delivery of healthcare.
The CRIO must demonstrate extraordinary leadership in fostering and supporting the use of informatics in translational health science research and a history of bridging collaborations between academic and healthcare institutions, including mentoring faculty, fostering research collaborations, and providing effective strategic management that leverages the diverse and rich informatic assets at VCU and VCU Health for the advancement of VCU and VCU Health’s collective research missions.
The CRIO will oversee the continued implementation, expansion, and on-going management of VCU’s clinical research informatics infrastructure, including bioinformatics and biomedical informatics core resources. The CRIO will also oversee informatics programs within the C. Kenneth and Dianne Wright Center for Clinical and Translational Research - VCU’s CTSA supported research center, and the Massey Cancer Center, an NCI designated cancer center. The Chief Research Information Officer will report to the Director of the C. Kenneth and Dianne Wright Center for Clinical and Translational Research for biomedical informatics within the Wright Center and to the Director of the Massey Cancer Center for informatics cancer activities.
