About the position

This position will serve as the director of technology for the School of Pharmacy’s technology and instructional support program. This position is responsible for oversight of effective and efficient operation of technology resources for the School of Pharmacy teaching, research and service missions. This position will have responsibilities for overseeing the supervision, evaluation, and recruitment of staff in the information technology department, required documentation, communication with faculty, staff and students, and operation of the unit. The director of technology ensures university compliance with security standards such as desktop patching, software distribution via KACE and SCCM, security templates, user management, maintenance, monitoring and replacement of servers, installation/support of server-based applications and providing pre and post technical consultation to departments and divisions within the School of Pharmacy. The department is responsible for overseeing school-wide technology purchasing, imaging, deployment and repair of computers for faculty and staff, foundation labs and the student computer lab, providing technology consultation to faculty and staff. Additional departmental responsibilities include classroom support, distance education, website support and application development. The director of technology serves as the liaison between the department and VCU Technology Services and works collaboratively with other VCU entities. The director of technology reports to the executive associate dean for academic affairs.
