About the position
Virginia Commonwealth University invites nominations, expressions of intent, and applications for an exceptional leader to serve as senior associate dean with the school of business. The senior associate dean, the second highest position in the school reporting directly to the dean, will be an experienced leader with a proven capacity to provide thoughtful, inclusive leadership as well as the energy and enthusiasm to help the school achieve strategic goals and enhance the school’s reputation for excellence in research, teaching and the student experience.
VCU is seeking a collaborative leader who will play an integral role as an advocate for all academic programs, working collaboratively through a structure of shared governance with faculty, active leadership with academic administration, robust partnerships with other business school senior leaders, and effective university level relationships to drive academic innovation and continuous improvement.
The senior associate dean will lead an office of 16 full-time staff members (organizational chart). The position will report to Ed Grier, dean of the school of business. Ed Grier has served as Dean since March 2010. Under his leadership, the school is implementing an ambitious strategic plan, EPIC, to drive the future of business through the power of creativity.
