Applying to the School of Nursing

The DNP Program has a two-part application process:

  1. The NursingCAS Application ($70 fee)
  2. VCU Supplemental Information Application ($70 fee)

Application Checklist

  • Create and complete the NursingCAS Application
  • Complete the VCU Supplemental Information Application (instructions located in NursingCAS)
  • Submit a full-nonrefundable payment for the NursingCAS and VCU Supplemental Information Application
  • Regularly monitor your email to follow up on issues such as transcripts and reference delays
  • No GRE Required

  • All documents must be submitted to NursingCAS

VCU’s DNP program offers two points of entry:

Post-B.S. to DNP: Bachelor’s prepared registered nurses can apply to this pathway to become either a nurse practitioner or a nurse executive. All of the following concentrations offer either a full-time or part-time plan of study:

  • Nursing Leadership and Organizational Science (online)
  • Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner  
  • Family Nurse Practitioner 
  • Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Post-Master’s to DNP: Registered nurses or nurse practitioners who hold a master’s degree can apply to this pathway to earn a clinical practice doctorate. This pathway offers a Quality and Safety concentration as either a full-time or part-time plan of study.
