Each year, five new resident-physicians are accepted into the orthopaedic surgery residency program to begin their five-year training under the direction of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center in Richmond, Va. A majority of rotations are located at VCU Medical Center, where there are 15 full-time faculty members representing all orthopaedic subspecialties. In addition, residents rotate at other locations in the Richmond area, including Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center and St. Mary’s Hospital. Private subspecialty clinics are located at VCU Medical Center at Stony Point and VCU Sports Medicine Center.
