VCU is an urban, public, state-supported institution with an enrollment of more than 32,000 undergraduate, graduate, and health professional students studying on its two campuses in Richmond, Virginia.
The Medical College of Virginia Campus is located near the financial, governmental and shopping areas of downtown Richmond, the state capital of Virginia. The Monroe Park Campus is located two miles west in Richmond's historic Fan District.
VCU is ranked among the top 100 research universities in the country by the National Science Foundation. Research strengths include the basic and health sciences, business, behavioral sciences, public affairs and the humanities.
The biomedical research strength of VCU played a leading role in the establishment of the Virginia Biotechnology Research Park. Today, VCU is composed f a college and fifteen school offering over 200 degree and certificate programs. The University enrolls a diverse study body and has one of the largest evening colleges in the United States. Its internationally renowned faculty enhances VCU' position among the important institutions of higher learning in this country. The MCV campus is home to the VCU Medical Center, one of the nation's leading academic medical centers.
