This consortium conducts research on individuals’ abilities, biomarkers, decision-making and social circumstances to develop personalized approaches to treatment. As a newer initiative, it has received a handful of start-up and implementation grants focused on factors that influence decision-making when managing mental health and medical conditions.

James Bjork, Ph.D., has been awarded a $300K Department of Defense grant for the study, Identifying Cognitive Barriers to Effective Pressure Ulcer Self-Care. Dr. Bjork’s team will test how decision approaches can lead to poor skin care and pressure ulcers following SCI. Study findings will be used to develop an intervention to improve skin care and health.
