Allison DeLaney serves as a chaplain for the Pediatric, Neonatal and Women’s Health units in the VCU Medical Center and as an Instructor in the Department of Patient Counseling of the College of Health Professions.  

She holds a B.S. from the University of Florida, a M.A. from Catholic Theological Union, and a M.P.H. from VCU.  She completed her Chaplaincy Residency training at Loyola Hospital in Maywood, Illinois 2005-2005 and has been a Board Certified Chaplain since 2006 through the National Association of Catholic Chaplains. She achieved Palliative Care and Hospice Advanced Certification in 2020.

Prior to coming to VCU, Allison served for 8 years as Chaplain and Bereavement Coordinator at Hospice House and Support Care of Williamsburg. 

In 2016, she was chosen to be in the first cohort of the Chaplain Research Fellowship program, part of a John Templeton Foundation initiative to promote research literacy in chaplains, and dedicated two years of full-time study to complete a Masters in Public Health at VCU.  Her interests include: interdisciplinary palliative care, staff resilience, bereavement support, and spiritual care research.

Her home is with her husband and their three children and sweet dog, Peach.  She enjoys the inner stillness that comes from walking and hiking in parks and eating chocolate.
