As part of the Crossing Boundaries Lecture Series, Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar, in association with the Qatar Museums Authority, presents internationally renowned writer, critic and curator Francesco Bonami in conversation with cultural entrepreneur and art collector Tariq Al Jaidah.
"Cementing Relations at Home and Developing Relations Abroad". This lecture is presented in association with Global Entrepreneurship Week.
The Hamad bin Khalifa biennial symposia are designed to address major themes in Islamic art and culture. The 2013 symposium which takes place in Palermo, Italy, investigates the topic of light from a wide range of perspectives, from the imagery of light in the Qur’an and in the literatures of the Islamic lands to light’s role in buildings, paintings, and other works of art. Keynote speaker will be the acclaimed visual artist, Iranian-born Shirin Neshat, whose photographic and videographic work is literally created with light.
The MFA department at VCUQatar presents a series of workshops with distinguished MFA faculty for senior students and alumni from all Education City branch universities.
