Currently employed faculty and staff of VCU and VCU Health System are eligible to purchase a Recreational Sports membership at the Faculty/Staff rate.

VCU and VCU Health System full-time and part-time employees in the following categories are eligible for Rec Sports membership:

Faculty, UAP, classified and hourly staff, house staff, adjunct, emeritus, visiting and retired faculty,

VCU Alumni Members

VCU alumni can try out the campus recreation facilities for free in April.

Also during April, any alumni who register for the free 30-day trial can receive 20 percent off the alumni annual membership rate ($312 annually or $26 monthly)! The membership must be paid in full at the time of purchase and is only granted to VCU graduates (additional adult and children are excluded from promotion).

Additional Adults

Recreational Sports members can sponsor one additional person over the age of 18 from their household as an Additional Adult member for an additional fee. Qualifying adults include a roommate with proof of residency or one adult family member in the same household (spouse, partner) over the age of 18. Members may also sponsor unlimited dependent adults between the age of 18 and 26 (such as college-age children) in addition to their one Additional Adult membership, based just upon residency.

Sponsors will be required to show either:

  • Proof of residency (includes, but is not limited to utility bills, credit card statements, checking account statements, checks, etc), or

  • Proof of dependency The Affordable Care Act requires plans and issuers that offer dependent child coverage to make the coverage available until the adult child reaches the age of 26. Acceptable documentation includes, but is not limited to birth certificates, adoption certificates, health care insurance information, or tax returns.

The sponsoring member can pay monthly through automatic recurring credit card charges or annual lump sum payments. With a purchase of a membership, a key fob will be issued for members to gain access to the gym facilities. For additional information, please contact the membership office.

VCU Affiliates

Affiliates are contracted employees of VCU who regularly work on campus. Affiliates must present a valid VCU Affiliate ID.

Any individual who is not affiliated with the University or the VCU Health System may join as a Community member.
