VCU has a rich history of enrolling, developing and graduating students who will challenge the present and enrich the future. Whether you are an incoming freshman, transfer, graduate or returning student, we are excited that you are part of the Ram family, or "Ramily."
We know choosing the right university is not just a one-time occurrence. Every semester that VCU students return reaffirms that VCU is the right university for them, and we excitedly partner with our students to make their dreams a reality.
The SEMSS team, like so many others on campus, is committed to providing quality student services that support the needs of our diverse student population and that will enrich your time at VCU. I encourage you to explore our departments, services and programs to learn more about what is available to you and to see how we will support you throughout your academic career. We are proud that you are here and thrilled to see our campus community overflowing with so many engaged students of diverse talents, experiences and passions. We empower our students to build on these qualities as scholars, creative thinkers and problem solvers.
We know many of you have jobs, families and obligations outside of your academics. We realize that you often encounter a variety of everyday life circumstances and other factors that present challenges or obstacles to accomplishing your academic aspirations. You should know we are committed to doing all that we can to ensure you earn your degree with post-graduation options of employment, or graduate or professional school. Whatever you choose as the next destination in your journey, we are here to help you get there.
With my experience in higher education, as a first-generation college student (many years ago), and a belief in the transformative power of education, I hope to be able to support you throughout your time at VCU through the work of SEMSS. In SEMSS, we are focused on your success because we know that your success means success for your family, your community and our society, and we can’t wait to see all the great things you will do!
