Remote advising: All advising is being conducted by email and phone during this time. You may still make an appointment through Navigate or your VCU portal. If you have any problems doing so you may email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Sociology advising office advises all VCU sociology majors and minors. The advising office assists students with both academic and career planning. Academic advising appointments are designed to guide students through the sociology major and assist in developing a curriculum plan that best serves a student’s interest. Advisors also help with university paperwork and graduation applications. Students may also find support in career planning through potential jobs and internships, as well as graduate school planning and application process.
VCU Sociology Department is located on the second floor of Founders Hall, 827 W. Franklin St, Room 204.

We strongly recommend that students schedule annual advising appointments to ensure adequate completion of all their degree. Students considered seniors (91+ earned credit hours) should schedule advising meetings for their final semesters to ensure all qualifications have been met towards graduation and they have filed the necessary paperwork to graduate.
As aforementioned, we strongly encourage students who have not met this semester to discuss upcoming registration cycles to please do so. While advising has moved online, available meeting times and drop-in hours can still be found via Navigate. Appointments can be made by accessing the “Advising Appointment” link on your My VCU homepage, by clicking here, or by following the link in the signature of all advising emails. Zoom invites will be emailed as your meeting time approaches. Please allow 48 business hours for a response and do not forward emails already sent during this time. Emails will be answered in the order received.
This is a weird time with unique needs, so reach out, check in, and drop by Zoom for a chance to say hi and to see your awesome face! Advising times are posted on Navigate. I encourage drop-ins for more immediate questions, and scheduled appointments for students that want to review standing, review degree audits, and plan for registration.
Only available slots will be shown, the calendar shows appointments two weeks out at a time. Must schedule an appointment at least 24 hours ahead of the appointment time.
