We’re making an impact on education. On a global scale.
VCU’s School of Education (SOE) is committed to promoting education beyond our borders. As part of that, we're proud to present our Asian-American Educational Studies Center – a collaborative opportunity for faculty and students here and in China to work and learn together in the areas of research, teaching, service and professional development.
Our mission is to provide a variety of educational and cultural opportunities for scholars, educators and students from Asian countries and the United States to explore foundational and culturally meaningful topics in education and related fields. The Asian-American Educational Studies Center (AAESC) is committed to fostering an educational community that encourages dynamic intellectual dialogues among all stakeholders who are responsible for the education of all individuals from diverse backgrounds.
The AAESC's vision is to promote EDUCATION BEYOND BORDERS through innovative, effective and culturally responsive collaborations with our education partners from Asian countries and Asian communities locally and nationally.
Each of our programs has unique admissions requirements. Please review the individual academic program admissions page for support with your online application, statement of intent, resume/CV and other required materials requirements.
Several activities of this center are complete, including an early childhood education/early elementary practicum and a preK-20 program, both hosted by SOE in spring and summer 2019, respectively. Planned collaboration opportunities also include teaching opportunities for SOE faculty in China, a research conference at Jiangnan University in the fall, and a joint international research lab.
