Tk20 allows the School of Education to document student progress toward professional competencies, help students manage their academic careers and transition to the working world, and to demonstrate programs’ continued commitment to professional standards affirmed in the School of Education’s national recognition by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation and the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs.

As a student, the Tk20 by Watermark assessment system helps document your growth throughout your program, conveniently receive feedback in field experiences and build a digital portfolio that showcases aspects of your educational experience, professional competencies and accomplishments. It also supports you in your transition from a student to a working professional.

Tk20 brings together data from multiple sources, such as coursework, field experiences and evaluation surveys. These data helps us continuously improve programs and student experiences.
Virginia Commonwealth University uses Watermark Tk20 and the University supported survey system as data collection tools to capture data leading to licensure. Further, candidates may be prompted to provide additional necessary data, related to feedback and their professional practice, to support VCU’s continued accreditation by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation. Finally, Virginia Commonwealth University will survey both student teaching sites and Virginia public school employers about performance related to preparation received from VCU educator preparation program.
