SOE alum named executive director of CodeRVA

VCU School of Education alumna Kume Goranson has been named executive director of CodeRVA Regional High School in Richmond. Goranson will begin her new role on December 19.

Goranson earned both her Master of Teaching in Secondary Education, and her Post-Master’s in Administration and Supervision, from SOE. She is currently pursuing her Ed.D. in Leadership at the school with an anticipated graduation date of May 2021.

Dr. Amy Griffin, CodeRVA superintendents’ advisory chair, spoke very highly of Goranson. “I am impressed with the knowledge and expertise that Ms. Goranson brings to CodeRVA. Her passion and energy will ensure that this innovative program continues to grow and flourish,” Griffin said.

Goranson is currently director of middle school leadership for Chesterfield County Public Schools, supervising twelve middle school principals, overseeing the AVID College and Career Readiness program and the Summit Learning online personalized learning program for both middle and high schools.

CodeRVA is an innovative, regional, public high school focused on preparing a diverse population of students for college and careers in computer science through personalized, integrated and applied learning.
