Facilities Assistants are responsible for a variety of duties involved in maintaining a comfortable environment and efficient operation of The Commons, Hunton or Larrick Student Centers. Facility Assistants prepare meeting rooms for use by setting up meeting furniture, cleaning before and after use, and setting up audio-visual equipment.
The Information Assistant is the initial contact with building users and the public which requires a courteous and professional demeanor. The Information Assistant manages a variety of services for students, faculty, staff, and guests of the University, including call transferring, Internet searches and directions.
Through an 8-10 week training program, the Assistant Student Manager will learn about the responsibilities associated with the evening management of The Commons building and Larrick Student Center event spaces and supervisory responsibilities for the Student Assistants.

The Office Assistant provides high-level administrative support for the administrative offices, Student Leadership & Engagement, Fraternity and Sorority office, and the Event Services teams at The Commons. This role serves as the initial point of contact for The Commons and handles information requests and event reservations, conducts research, and performs general clerical tasks. Tasks include general office operations, including but not limited to, customer service, preparing correspondence, information assistance, and other administrative duties as assigned.
The student employees are responsible for the conceptualization, design, development, and implementation of promotional communications, informational materials, and outreach activities to promote the programs, facilities, and services offered by The Commons.
Audio-Visual Tech student employees are responsible for setting up requested AV equipment. They ensure that the equipment is set up correctly as well as connecting user devices to the in-house equipment. The tech assigned to an event is responsible for mixing live sound and troubleshooting tech problems.
Student Involvement Ambassadors serve as the initial point of contact for students and staff visiting The Underground and The Hub. Student Involvement Ambassadors serve as a resource for members of student organizations regarding registration, finance, and programming.
This student leadership role supports the Student Leadership and Civic Engagement office in areas such as related to storytelling, active citizenship, and social change.
