Mission

The mission of the VCU University Student Commons and Activities, known as The Commons, is to support student development and build community through programs and services.

Vision 

The vision of The Commons is to be the central place at the university for student activity and to be among the nation’s top university commons in facilities, programs, student development, and civic engagement. The Commons is student-centered and seeks to attain standards of excellence in all areas of services and engagement.

Goals

At The Commons, our outward-facing goals are to:  

• Provide safe, accessible, and inviting student-focused facilities and activities that support and enhances students’ experiences at VCU
• Provide opportunities for students to engage as local, national, and global citizens
• Bring the VCU community together by planning, organizing, and executing programs and events.
