Message from leadership to VCU community - May 25

Should VCU require vaccination?

Dear VCU community,

In every department and in all aspects of the university, VCU students, faculty and staff have demonstrated tremendous commitment and tenacity this past year. Your health, safety and well-being continue to be a priority in all that we do and the decisions we make. We are faced with a new decision now that COVID-19 vaccines are widely available and proving to be safe and effective. Like many institutions across the country, VCU must choose whether or not to require the vaccine for students and employees — and we must have input from the VCU community to make an informed decision.

To that end, please complete this four-question survey regarding mandatory COVID-19 vaccination for students and VCU employees. Survey submissions must be made by this Sunday, May 30.

As a reminder, if you have not yet received your COVID-19 vaccination, you can make an appointment on-campus through the University Student Health Services web portal (students) or VCU Employee Health (employees) by calling 804-828-0584, or at a provider near you (search vaccine availability at www.vaccines.gov). If you have questions about vaccines, use the resources available through VCU Health System’s This Shot Matters campaign.

Changes to VCU’s public safety measures are expected to evolve as we prepare for the fall semester. Please continue to read the One VCU: Better Together email updates or visit together.vcu.edu for current information about university operations. As always, thank you for the role you play in advancing the health of our community.

Sincerely,
