Notice

The current Filelocker, filelocker.vcu.edu, has been abandoned by its developers and uses a version of Python that is End of Life. Fortunately, Filelocker is an open source project and Web Services has been able to update the code and use stronger encryption. Users should expect the user interface and application mechanics to function the exact same, the only thing being changed is the backend code and the urls (temporarily).

Migration to the new server will be a two step process. To make the following instructions clear, the current version of Filelocker that is using Python 2 will be referred to as current Filelocker and the Python 3 version will be referred to as new Filelocker.

  1. Uploads will be turned off to current Filelocker, filelocker.vcu.edu, on Thursday, May 21. At the same time, all new uploads will be shared using new Filelocker on newfilelocker.vcu.edu. Users will still be able to download files from current Filelocker until they expire. New files will be downloadable from the new Filelocker.
  2. After 30 days, the last files on current Filelocker will be expired, at which point current Filelocker will be retired and the filelocker.vcu.edu DNS will be pointed to new Filelocker.

VCU Filelocker allows you to easily share large files (or large numbers of files) with other people inside and outside of the VCU community via email. You can upload your files to Filelocker and send them to anyone with a valid email address.
