This is the preliminary (or launch) version of the 2021-2022 VCU Bulletin. This edition includes all programs and courses approved by the publication deadline; however we may receive notification of additional program approvals after the launch. The final edition and full PDF version will include these updates and will be available in August prior to the beginning of the fall semester.
The minor in African American studies requires a minimum of 18 credits. Students must complete the following:

|Select one course at the 300-level or above from two of the following concentration areas: 1||6|
Artistic, historical and literary perspectives
Political, religious, and societal perspective
Social and behavioral perspectives

Courses in African American studies are designed to help students gain a knowledge and appreciation of the history and culture of the Africana world and its contributions to world civilizations.
