Prior to coming to VCU, Karen served as audit director for the Virginia Auditor of Public Accounts, focusing on institutions in the areas of higher education and information technology, and directing the audits of many Virginia colleges and universities, including VCU. She has extensive experience analyzing complex financial, program, compliance and performance issues and reporting the information and recommendations to the General Assembly.
Karen earned her MBA degree from Virginia Tech and her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Christopher Newport University and a master’s certificate in IT project management from George Washington University. She is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the Virginia Society of CPAs, the Information Systems Audit and Compliance Association, and the Project Management Institute. Karen has served on numerous accounting and auditing committees and actively writes auditing and compliance articles for the Virginia Society of CPAs Disclosures magazine.
Audit and Management Services
David is the director of VCU’s health system, IT, and university audit programs. With more than 20 years of health system and university internal audit and five years of financial audit experience, he has also had responsibility for the university’s compliance program and was previously the director of the health system’s information technology department.
He recently served as the ERM Implementation Committee Chairman leading the implementation of VCU’s ERM Program.
David is a graduate of Virginia Tech in Accounting and Information Systems and has certifications as CPA, CISA, CGFM, Certification in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA), and Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT).

Audit and Management Services - VCU Health
Tina Kendall is the Deputy Director of Health System Audit and Management Services. Tina is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with a certification in Control Self-Assessment. A VCU accounting graduate, Tina brings a wealth of experience, having worked as controller and both internal and external auditor, for both large and small firms. Her professional experience includes internal audit management at a large health insurer and accounting management at the Virginia Department of Medical Assistance Services.
Integrity and Compliance Office
Jacqueline Kniska serves as University Chief Ethics & Compliance Officer at Virginia Commonwealth University. She is now active in the compliance and ethics field in higher education and prior in health care. Currently, Ms. Kniska maintains oversight of compliance and integrity activities at VCU, and provides reports of progress and areas for opportunity to the Board of Visitors and other key stakeholders, with the assistance of specialized operational compliance partners. Favorite parts of this role include the people-powered aspect and the pro-active components of the compliance and ethics program.
Ms. Kniska earned her B.A. in Political Science from James Madison University and her J.D. from Oklahoma City University and maintains a current CHC (certification in health care compliance).
Ashley Green serves as program manager, analytics, investigations and federal compliance in the Integrity and Compliance Office. She has worked in the compliance and ethics industry since 2009 and has experience working in both healthcare and higher education compliance.
Ms. Green focuses on risk assessment and monitoring activities for federal regulatory requirements, serves as an investigator and develops ethics and compliance program analytics.
Ms. Green received her B.A. in Psychology from the University of Virginia and maintains a CCEP (Corporate Compliance & Ethics Professional) certification and an LCEP (Leading Compliance and Ethics Professional).
VCU Health Compliance Services
Jill McCormack has served as the Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer for VCU Health System (VCUHS) since April 2016. Prior to serving in this role, Jill has an additional ten years of experience in Compliance Services at VCUHS. Her professional areas of interest are patient privacy, physician engagement, and organizational dynamics and change.
Prior to coming to the health system, Jill worked in the sports medicine profession as a certified athletic trainer for ten years.
Jill earned her Masters of Science in Health Administration from Medical College of Virginia, Masters of Education from Auburn University, and Bachelors of Arts in Sports Sciences at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill. She holds a certification in Healthcare Compliance.
In her spare time, Jill enjoys running, yoga and spending time with her family.
