On Monday, March 19, the Department of African American Studies hosted a panel discussion on the hit Marvel superhero movie Black Panther. AFAM professor Dr. Chioke I'Anson moderated the even. The panel included AFAM faculty members Dr. Brandi Summers and Dr. Adam Ewing as well as Dr. Tressie Cottom of the Sociology department.
The panel members analyzed the film's characters and themes, drawing on the philosophies of Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X.
