NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Opportunity for Students
Application Deadline: October 30, 2015

A higher percentage of applications submitted by students in mathematics will result in a higher number of NSF graduate fellowships allocated to our students in future years.

The NSF offered 2,050 students Graduate Research Fellowships for 2015, with only 60 or about 3% of these being math students (i.e., students in the mathematical sciences). With 6.2% of U.S. science doctoral degrees granted in mathematics, the number of GRFs currently awarded to math students is seriously deficient. We must increase the number of fellowships awarded to math students — we can do this by increasing the number of applications to the NSF for these fellowships.
