Tips for Social Distancing Outdoors
Here is some helpful advice from the OAP on how to get outside while social distancing:
- Stay local. Now is not the time to go on that next big adventure. Traveling long distances can further spread the virus. Try exploring your local trails and parks.
- Let’s meet up. Try to meet others at your destination. It's better not to travel inside a car with others. Riding your bike is also a great option!
- Avoid busy times on the weekends and afternoons. Fewer people out and about will reduce your likelihood of coming in contact with the virus.
- Avoid in-person interactions in stores, gas stations, restaurants, etc., when getting supplies and traveling to your local destinations.
- Keep it clean. Bring some portable hand sanitizer with you to keep your hands clean. Whenever possible, wash with good old fashioned soap (antibacterial) and water.
- Make good choices. If in doubt, err on the side of caution. The great outdoors isn’t going anywhere.

NEW! Informal Virtual Escape Rooms
The OAP is excited to offer free informal virtual escape rooms for VCU and University of Richmond affiliates. These experiences are designed for you and your quarantined partners to have a virtual escape room experience without the need for a reservation, Zoom meeting, or an OAP facilitator. Simply pick one of the rooms below and follow the directions. Good Luck.
Zombie Outbreak: The Beginning.
Room Story: Something terrible is happening. The government has been keeping the disasters quiet for years. Oftentimes, they get lucky and contain the problem. But now, reports of a new outbreak have been spreading. Only you can help figure out how to stop the spread before it is too late. Hurry - time is running out!
Directions: (Don’t forget step 4!)
- Gather the friends, family members, or colleagues whom you wish to conduct this escape room with. You may also try this room solo if you dare. External resources such as computers, phones, books, paper, and writing utensils are allowed.
- Enter the Zombie Outbreak: The Beginning Room
- Work with your team to solve the puzzles! You have 30 minutes. Your time will begin when you select the below “Enter Room Button”. Once you have escaped or time has run out, please remember to come back to this site and complete step 4.
- Thank you for participating in this program. We would love your feedback! Please fill out OAP Informal Virtual Escape Room Post Program Evaluation. We would really enjoy hearing what you learned from this experience. Once you have done this, then your experience is completed. Thanks and keep visiting the OAP for more team building programs!
Multi-Directional Rooms
Unlike the other virtual escape rooms where participants stay together and navigate through the same locks, these escape rooms break up your team into several separate rooms where screens are different and clues may be more challenging to discover.
Rooms we will be offering include:
The Katrina Journals - (two rooms)- Katrina found an old journal from her youth. She was a child when the Berlin Wall went up, and she never had a chance to speak up and voice concerns. Upon seeing her old journal, she wondered... if she HAD spoken up, would her story have a different ending? You're going to be split into two groups... one group to Katrina in 1952, the other to Katrina in 1989. Can you work together to break the barrier that kept her quiet all those years?
Life (Three Rooms)- In LIFE, three groups must navigate a single life from different time periods.
