Whether you’re looking for updated skill sets, making a career change or checking off a life goal, graduates of the Multimedia Journalism concentration represent a new generation of media professionals.
As a graduate student, you will be given the opportunity to learn the theory and practice of journalism with courses created to provide you with an immersive experience. You will strengthen your skills necessary for today’s working journalists as well as gain leadership knowledge that will propel you ahead in your career. With hands-on courses, you’ll get a chance to report on critical topics of your choice and have the opportunity to publish your work through the Robertson School’s news service, which serves more than 100 news outlets in the state, plus the Associated Press. All of our courses will be taught online to ensure that you will be able to receive exceptional education on your own time.

The Robertson School’s graduate program builds on our acclaimed undergraduate program which is at the forefront of schools nationally that require students to have experience with multimedia skills. Our educators are continually recognized for their expertise in media careers and in journalism research. Many have career experience in award-winning newsrooms and utilize these networks to help students, including professional journalists.
We have a full online program with flexile course schedules for working professionals. The program is designed so that on-track students will take two or three courses each semester (summer, fall, spring and summer). Thus, on-track students can complete the coursework in 12 months.
The mission of the Master of Science in Mass Communications-Multimedia Journalism is to provide graduate, professional education for students who are in various stages of their journalism careers and for the broader communications industry who seek to develop a stronger foundation and preparation in multimedia journalism.
