The minor in Early Intervention and Early Childhood Special Education provides students with specialized courses that will increase their understanding of typical and atypical development, as well strategies to support young children with disabilities and their families when working as a professional in inclusive settings where young children with disabilities are served.

The minor is structured so that students have a foundational knowledge, and then are able to choose courses that best meet their future professional and educational goals. For example, in SEDP 216 students will hear from family members of children with disabilities. In ECSE 301, students will be able to participate in a mock assessment session, and in ECSE 401, students learn about children with complex medical needs.
