Language is the key to understanding and celebrating cultural differences. Learn about how to advocate, support and celebrate multilingual learners and their communities. This minor is open to all majors and applies across disciplines.

Learn more about how to support students and adults for whom English is not their native language. This minor fosters a tolerance and appreciation for linguistic and cultural diversity.

The School of Education's minor in TESOL requires 20 credits total, consisting of the following:

Students must have a minimum GPA of 2.8 to declare a minor in education and must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.8 throughout the coursework in the minor.

Note: Students who complete this minor will not meet the requirements needed for teacher licensure in the state of Virginia as outlined by the Virginia Department of Education. For information regarding licensure, please contact the School of Education’s Student Services Center.
