Weekly update: Physical distancing shuttle and RamSafe, temporary parking, staff town hall and more

As we plan the return to campus for the university’s faculty, staff and students, our priorities are the health, safety and wellness — both physical and emotional — of every member of the VCU community. Many details have been worked out, and many are still to come. This weekly update will be a resource to help keep you informed as details become available. All updates are available at Receive notifications by downloading VCU Mobile from your iOS or Android app store.

Staff town hall — save the date for Aug. 3

A virtual town hall for VCU staff is planned for Aug. 3 at 1 p.m. VCU leadership will discuss the employee experience for fall 2020. Look for an email with registration details. You may submit your questions ahead of time using this form.

Daily health survey requirement

Per the One VCU: Responsible Together plan, returning employees and students are required to complete a brief daily health survey. Daily health monitoring is everyone’s responsibility and is a critical component of our return-to-campus plan. If you begin experiencing symptoms related to COVID-19, this survey will advise you regarding next steps. A reminder email with a link to the health survey will be sent daily to those responsible for completing the survey. This daily survey is required of returning employees, including hybrid teleworkers and designated employees who are already authorized to work on campus. Beginning Aug. 17, all employees, including those teleworking, must complete the daily survey. The health check is also accessible by visiting the Daily Health website.

Temporary physical distancing shuttle coming in August

Starting in August, VCU Parking and Transportation will operate a temporary physical distancing shuttle to support VCU community members with increased safety concerns. The shuttle will travel to Cabell Library, One Capitol Square and McGuire Hall, and physical distancing measures in addition to face mask requirements will be enforced.

Temporary parking options

In the event a long-term VCU parking permit does not meet your needs, daily/hourly parking is available at several parking facilities. Additionally, students and employees may purchase a two-week permit for designated locations online at

RamSafe service begins Aug. 1

RamSafe service will resume on Aug. 1 at 5 p.m. with physical distancing guidelines enforced. Buses will operate at 50 percent passenger capacity. Masks will be required to ride. Learn more at
