We are pleased to announce that due to the recent arrival of additional doses of vaccine, we’ve advanced the planned rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine for eligible clinical students in VCU programs this afternoon. “Clinical students” are in the patient care phase of their education or providing care in patient-facing environments. After a thorough review of the state’s guidelines, deans identified about 2,100 clinical students who qualify for the vaccine at this time. This group includes students in patient-facing environments from VCU School of Medicine, VCU School of Nursing, VCU School of Pharmacy, VCU School of Dentistry, VCU College of Health Professions, VCU School of Social Work, and a few students from the departments of psychology, kinesiology and health sciences at VCU’s College of Humanities and Sciences. Students and faculty not eligible in this current phase will be vaccinated when they become eligible under state public health guidelines.
The eligible schools and colleges will provide additional information today about which of their students qualifies for vaccination at this time and how to make a vaccination appointment.

The only way we will continue to stay in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic is by working together. Please consider signing up to get the COVID-19 vaccine. Vaccination is an important line of defense that we are fortunate to have available to us. It’s important to remember that vaccination alone will not get us through this, we must stay vigilant. Do not let your guard down: mask up, keep a safe physical distance and wash your hands.
Thank you for doing your part to keep our community safe and healthy.
Stay safe and stay well,
