Weekly update for students: Housing information, training requirements and more

As we plan the return to campus for the university’s faculty, staff and students, our priorities are the health, safety and wellness — both physical and emotional — of every member of the VCU community. Many details have been worked out, and many are still to come. This weekly update will be a resource to help keep you informed as details become available. All updates are available at together.vcu.edu. Receive notifications by downloading VCU Mobile from your iOS or Android app store.

Housing updates for incoming and returning residential students

Due to the health and safety precautions related to COVID-19, Residential Life and Housing has altered certain practices and policies. Some of these changes include break housing, housing inventory and assignments, and the guest policy. Please review the changes on their FAQs page.

Clarification about training requirements for students

Currently, the training for students is only available for students who have been approved to return to campus prior to Aug. 1. The training will be available for all returning students July 15. New students will complete training as part of the New Student Orientation modules.

Once a student worker has been approved to return to campus, this information will be shared with the Division of Student Affairs. Next, the Division of Student Affairs will send the student an email regarding the Return to Campus Training that must be completed prior to their return to campus.

Completion of the training will be monitored via the Blackboard gradebook with follow up. If you have questions about access to the training or completion status, please email dsa@vcu.edu.

Additional FAQs about training for students can be found at students.vcu.edu/rtc-student/.

Training for graduate students and postdoctoral trainees returning to research

If you are a graduate student now returning to campus as part of the return to research, or a postdoctoral trainee now returning but who does not have access to Talent@VCU, you still need to complete training before returning to campus. Follow these steps:

  1. Log into Blackboard with your VCU eID.
  2. Click on the Courses tab at the top.
  3. Search for "Reboarding."
  4. Click on the "TRAIN-101-100-2020Spring" to get the Enroll dropdown, and click on Enroll.
  5. Following completion, click on the Achievements tab to obtain your certificate to download and send to the principal investigator to whom you report or the PI’s designee.
