Jan. 4 - Jan. 24 (end of winter break through start of spring semester classes)
VCU/Virginia Department of Health contact tracers will notify close contacts who are exposed to COVID-19. VCU contact tracers are an extension of the Virginia Department of Health. The process follows all VDH protocols in order to protect an individual's privacy, including health information.

All students are required to complete this course by Monday, Jan. 25, or by the time they return to campus. Students must complete this course even if they completed the Return to Campus training in the fall.

Starting Jan. 8: Residents will receive a notification to their VCU emails when their COVID-19 test results are posted to their Kallaco account. Turnaround times for test results will vary depending on volume but should be posted to accounts within three to five business days of receipt by the lab.
If a resident tests positive for COVID-19, they should immediately isolate and contact Student Health Services by calling 1-804-MYCOVID or 1-804-692-6843 to discuss the next steps.
Sign-up for a move-in time slot: Once Residential Life and Housing is notified that a resident has received a negative COVID-19 test result and has completed the Spring Return to Campus Student Training, they will email the resident a link to sign up for a move-in time slot and move-in instructions.
To support the residential community's health and safety, all residents are required to take the COVID-19 test outlined above and complete their Return to Campus Student Training. If a resident comes to move-in without completing these requirements, they will not be permitted to enter the residence hall.

VCU recommends that all students returning to VCU and surrounding communities from destinations abroad follow CDC guidelines and stay home for 14 days upon arrival in the U.S., avoid being around people at increased risk for severe illness from COVID-19, and consider getting tested for COVID-19. A student arriving less than 14 days before the start of classes can contact their faculty in advance of the first day of classes to discuss options for remote learning during this time. Students residing in VCU residence halls should contact University Student Health Services and refer to the Residential Life and Housing website for additional quarantine and isolation requirements. Residential students must have a negative COVID-19 test result prior to move-in. Residential students who travel from locations outside of the U.S. may be required to quarantine on campus until they receive a negative test result.
Starting Jan. 19, asymptomatic surveillance testing (previously referred to as "prevalence" testing) will be mandatory for residential students, students who attend on-campus classes and employees who work on campus. VCU samples asymptomatic VCU community members for testing each week in order to monitor COVID-19 within the VCU community. If you are selected to participate, you will receive an email from firstname.lastname@example.org that includes instructions for setting up your Kallaco portal, links to available appointment slots and other information to help you prepare for your COVID-19 test. If you are selected to participate, you must schedule your test and attend your testing appointment.
