To be eligible for transfer admission to Virginia Commonwealth University, you must be in good standing with the last institution you attended. We require a final grade of “C” or better for a course to transfer.
We generally accept up to 90 credits from four-year colleges. For students from two-year colleges, we recommend taking no more than 70 credit hours in order to stay on track with VCU graduation requirements. There is no minimum credit requirement, but priority application review is given to students who have completed at least 30 credit hours.
Visit VCU's transfer admissions page for a detailed list of transfer information, including deadlines and requirements.
Students from VCCS/RBC
We’ve partnered with the Virginia Community College System and Richard Bland College, as well as the College of Southern Maryland, to create guaranteed admission programs. View our transfer pathways for recommendations on course selection and associate’s degree options based on your intended VCU major.
Students from four-year or non-Virginia two-year institutions
VCU only accepts courses for transfer from regionally accredited institutions. Vocational and developmental courses are non-transferable. Our interactive search tool can help you identify transfer equivalencies for courses completed at other institutions.
