The faculty and staff of the Department of Theatre at VCUarts unequivocally condemn all forms of bigotry, racism, and anti-Blackness. We are determined to support all our students by mindfully creating a culture of both safety and accountability within our department where BIPOC students feel seen and all our students feel valued.

STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS
SALT
The Student Alliance Laboratory Theatre (SALT) is an amazing resource for Theatre students. SALT facilitates, encourages and promotes the public performance of student theatre at the Shafer Street Playhouse. SALT’s goal is that students will take personal and artistic risks, which will result in engaging, quality theatre that challenges and enriches the students involved and the community alike.
Black Theatre Association
BTA facilitates cultural diversity through the exploration of Black Theatre Arts. BTA emphasizes stories of color through performance, community engagement, and social awareness. BTA received the Outstanding New Student Organization Award in Spring 2020.
Little-Big Program
The Little-Big program is an informal, student run tradition in the theatre department. Incoming first years are teamed up with a sophomore mentor—someone who can answer your questions, be a friendly face, and help you get to know VCU and the department! Click the title above to read more.
