Important Updates Regarding the Spring 2021 and Fall 2021 Application Requirements for Undergraduate Programs

Standardized test scores are not required for Spring 2021 and Fall 2021 application review and scholarship consideration.

Because of the lack of standardized examinations being offered due to the public health concerns related to COVID-19, VCU will review all applications for admissions and scholarship consideration without standardized test scores.

Special considerations are being made regarding the portfolio and audition requirements.

VCUarts understands that due to COVID-19, students may not have had access to art classes; studios; dance, music, theatre, and film productions and design; and other art making opportunities. We highly encourage you to apply, even if you feel that you were not able to create the “perfect” portfolio or participate in enough performances or lessons. We are seeking students who show a high potential for success once enrolled in an arts program, and during the application review process, we will take into consideration the nationwide lack of arts access over the past year.

All students will be automatically reviewed for university merit-based scholarships and talent scholarships, regardless of the time of application.

Though VCU’s Presidential, Provost, and Deans scholarships are awarded only to students who apply by the November 1 deadline, there are a variety of other scholarships, including academic merit scholarships, and talent scholarships, that all students will be automatically considered for, regardless of application timing. We encourage you to apply as soon as possible for the greatest chance of being awarded a scholarship. Last year, 60% of VCUarts freshman applicants were awarded a scholarship.
