This fall, eight VCUarts faculty members have received promotion and tenure, while two are taking on new appointments within the school.
Those receiving promotion and tenure include Sandy Goldie and Susanna Klein in the Department of Music; Blair Clemo in the Department of Craft/Material Studies; Pamela Lawton in the Department of Art Education; and Orla McHardy in the Department of Kinetic Imaging. Tawnya Pettiford-Wates, tenured in the Department of Theatre, was promoted to full professor. At VCUarts Qatar, Sadia Mir and Jesse Ulmer were both promoted to associate professor in Liberal Arts and Sciences.
Assistant professors Paul Rucker and Julian Glover have also received new appointments at VCUarts. As Curator of Creative Collaboration, Rucker will co-lead and support initiatives with VCUarts and other departments to collaborate with national and international partners on research, exhibitions, performance laboratories, lectures, discussions and more. Glover will hold a joint appointment across the departments of Gender, Sexuality and Women’s Studies and Dance + Choreography, focused on LGBTQIA+ intersectionality. Both Glover and Rucker are also affiliated with VCU’s iCubed initiative.
“I am thrilled to celebrate the accomplishments of our talented and inspiring faculty,” says VCUarts Interim Dean Nancy Scott. “Their perspectives, expertise and artistic practices contribute to the creative culture that makes VCUarts one of the top-ranked art and design schools in the country.”
